Annual event involved Tyruliai community
The project team continues tradition to involve local community members into annual count of the migrating cranes in Tyruliai bog – voluntees from Tyruliai community with the chair person Ona Aksinavičienė of the community, youth from Radviliškis V. Kudirka secondary school as well as chief ecologist of Tytuvėnai Regional Park Deima Pranckūnienė joined the event, which was organised on 22nd of September 2017.
Experience sharing seminar on restoration of peatlands and damaged wetlands
A project seminar “Experience in the re-naturalisation of the explored peatbogs and heavily damaged wetlands” took place in Tytuvėnai, Lithuania on May 10-11, 2017. 33 representatives from more than 10 institutions, involved in the restoration of the explored peatlands, attended this event, including 2 specialists from Belarus, who shared their experience in the field of the re-naturalisation of the explored peatlands In Belarus.
PROJECT OUTCOMES WERE PRESENTED DURING LIFE 25TH ANIVERSARY
Over 130 participants attended the “LIFE fair/LIFE25” event, which was jointly organised by the Ministry of Environment and Environmental Project Management Agency at the University of the Applied Social Sciences in Vilnius. Minister of Environment, Mr. Kęstutis Navickas, during his welcome speech encouraged participants to submit more projects applications, and, in particular, in the field of LIFE climate change mitigation and LIFE Environmental Governance.
People from Tyruliai village community joined the counting of migrating cranes
In the quiet evening of September 23rd the fourth this autumn count of migrating Common Cranes was carried out. This time we invited local people from Tyruliai village to take part in the count. The ecologists and young volunteers from Tytuvenai and Dubysa regional parks also joined.
Project film “The Rebirth of Tyruliai Bog” brought to wider public
In January 2016 Lithuanian Ornithological Society produced and started to distribute the Project film „The Rebirth of Tyruliai Bog“. The film targets the broad audience of people, who are interested in various issues of nature conservation, and aims to show exceptional values of Tyruliai wetland, which prior to peat excavation in early 1960, was one of the biggest wetland in Lithuania.
Night voices of Tyruliai
The project teem often communicates with people who wonder why Tyruliai wetland is so valuable, and what nature management activities are undertaken there. Thus, Lithuanian Ornithological Society, in response to this interest, organized a night excursions in Tyruliai surroundings and wetland. The event was also organized to celebrate European Natura 2000 day. The enthusiast were not scared off by cool weather, and a group of almost thirty people had gathered together. These were local community members, schoolchildren from the local school, employees form project partner UAB “Didysis tyrulis”, members of Lithuanian Ornithological Society, guests from the Environment Protection Department and the Environmental Protection Agency of Šiauliai region, and Tytuvėnai Regional Park.
„Night voices of the Tyruliai bog“ – traditional event with local community
„Night voices of the Tyruliai bog“ – a nice traditional event organised jointly by the Project team and Tyruliai settlement community. The first Friday of May was devoted for the discovery of the breeding birds’ species voices as over 30 members of the community participated in the late evening excursion to the Tyruliai bog.
Results of Tyruliai-LIFE project presented to local community
The final results of the Tyruliai-LIFE project were presented to the local community of Tyruliai settlement on November 29, 2017. Project implementers gave an overview on what was done in the project site with a special emphasis on the presentation of the botanical and ornithological monitoring reports as well as the report on the practical management of the wetland habitats.
A night excursion to Tyruliai
On May 25th LOD ornithologists S. Skuja and E. Pakštytė together with the botanist A. Kriaučiūnienė organised an excursion for Tyruliai community members.
